12.5 sequences for 125 years of the Art Pavilion; SEQUENCE 5
Posters in City light boxes and on billboards
The closure of the pavilion is only apparent. We note the changes, switch interior and exterior, for a moment fix the transformation, show the inaccessible. We inscribe our duration into the public space, distinguish the historical hegemonies, detect new footholds, make a place for the commonality of diverse cultural modes and identities.
At 43 locations in the city, in city light boxes and on billboards we put up four series of posters that take up the story from each other. Photographs of the exterior and interior of the site, collages of exhibition posters and the voices of foreign construction workers employed on the renovation tell of the Art Pavilion as a place of transformation, of a criss-crossed cultural tradition and of fluid historical narratives and geopolitical constructs.
